I would like to bring in Jaime Koo for her Encouraging Literacy at Home workshop series. It’s a great way for parents to learn tried-and-true, hands-on, and relevant strategies for helping our kids with reading and writing development at home.
In her reading workshops, Jaime can help parents revisit the basics of reading and phonics, how to ask questions that will help our children deepen their understanding of books, and show us how to have meaningful conversations with our children which will springboard into good writing. Jaime also offers writing workshops that will give parents a refresher on how to help our kids with punctuation, grammar, types of writing and how to expand our kids' creative writing skills. Not to mention, she also has a workshop designed to give us tips on how to help our kids with Common Core math word problems! She tailors her presentation to parents' needs and uses interactive demonstrations and tips we can use immediately.
Jaime Koo is Santa Clara University graduate and taught middle school English Language Arts for 10 years. She presents to elementary schools, parent groups and other educational organizations. Please visit www.EncouragingLiteracy.com to view her background, testimonials and some of the more specific topics she covers.
Hosting the Encouraging Literacy at Home workshops series or even a few selected workshops here would add value to our experience and meet such a great need for parents. It will help us gain new insight into our children's academic learning needs and contribute to our culture of lifelong learning and enriching all-around healthy lives.
